During this period, a Hong Kong reporter asked whether the Qian Qichen Center supported Tung Chee-hwa's re-election, and Qian Qichen said yes. Many Hong Kong newspapers made headlines on the next day that "Central leaders have handpicked Tung Chee-hwa for re-election as Chief Executive". Jiang Zemin facing questions from reporters At first, he responded humorously with "Yes" and "Of course" in Cantonese, but when the reporter asked why Tung Chee-hua was appointed chief executive in advance, Jiang Zemin began to express his dissatisfaction with the "imperial appointment". He also praised Mike Wallace, an American reporter who interviewed him, "how much higher than you don't know." Jiang Zemin accused the Hong Kong press of "you have a good one. Wherever you go in the world, you run faster than other Western journalists." But the questions I ask and ask are all too simple, sometimes naive.” When Zhang continued to question her, Jiang interrupted her again with reproachful words, "There is a saying in China that you can make a lot of money by keeping your voice down...but I see you are so enthusiastic that you can't do it without saying a word." Not good". He asked back, Tung Chee-hwa is now the chief executive of Hong Kong, how can I not support the chief executive?
