2000年10月27日，董建华赴北京述职时，张宝华反复追问其时的中共中央总书记兼国家主席江泽民是否「钦点」董建华连任行政长官，江泽民大发雷霆，并公开以「too simple, sometimes naïve」（「太简单，有时很天真」，即「很傻很天真」的较早版本）呵斥，使她名噪一时。详见下文。

2007年6月1日，张宝华得到林建岳欣赏，成功转型上位，成为丰德丽控股有限公司的高档副总裁，专注事务开展。
2008年汶川大地震发生后，张宝华跟刘德华分别当上演艺界512关爱行动的发言人跟召集人，为灾民筹款；这以后有关工作转交香港神学院担任。
2009年3月，正当猪流感及经济低迷时，张宝华建立丰德丽旗下新媒体渠道 Goyeah.com, 这是首个免费正版电影网站，网站的收入来历主要是靠网上广告。其时她跟传媒说，的内容商走得太慢，给盗版商盗取了挨近八成正收入，所以goyeah.com是一个自救的运动[

2016年11月，张宝华与小姪女张诗晨合作举办第一个个人油画展，名为「色绘·女性国际」。画展以两位不同年纪的女生的画笔来表达不同的女性国际，其画作最特别的地方在于画中女性全部都不见样貎，或是变成动物头。张宝华指因为一年前呈现心情问题，所以决议重拾画笔，以绘画来宣泄心情，后来偶尔在朋友鼓励下决议举办画展，顺道为慈善机构筹款。一众名人嘉宾到会画展，共筹得25万元，全数捐给慈善机构「惜食堂」。
2019年，她出书第二本小说《死神教父》，由天地图书出书。同年，张宝华在澳洲墨尔本皇家理工大学修读艺术学士学位课程，并于6月24日至30日在海港城港威大厦Wheelock Lounge举办第2次个人画展，名为「一点点的夸姣」，展览内容分为3个部分，分别为水、山及人；展品的包含张宝华自己最满意的《太阳花》和《马蹄兰》两幅习作。前财政司曾俊华等名人到会。收入20万全数捐给张于牛津大学建立的「狮子山精力」奖学金，支撑每年一位香港记者到牛津大学就读一年硕士课程。
